Frequently Asked Questions
No – You do not own the beat itself. What you’re buying is an unlimited license to use it in your own song(s). You own your new recording or song that you create (the master.)
No, you do not owe or pay royalties. You are free to use the beat and earn unlimited money from the song you create. You keep 100% of your sales and streaming revenue. The only shared area is publishing, if the song is registered with a PRO.
Check out the FAQ right below this to learn more about publishing splits.
Publishing is split 50/50. This does not mean you have to pay royalties out of your own pocket, split your streaming revenue, or send any of your sales money. It only matters if the song is officially registered with a Performing Rights Organization (PRO) like SOCAN, ASCAP, or BMI.
Here’s how it works:
When your song gets played on radio, TV, live shows, or streaming platforms, the PRO collects publishing royalties on behalf of the songwriters.
The music (the beat) and the lyrics you write are each credited for 50% of the new song you have created. The PRO automatically splits any publishing money between us.
This is standard — publishing is always divided between the words (lyrics) and the music (instrumental).
Important: publishing royalties are not the same thing as the money you make from selling or streaming your music.
You keep 100% of your sales and streaming revenue (Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, iTunes sales, merch, shows, etc.).
The only money that gets split is the publishing side, which only comes into play if the track is registered with a PRO and earns royalties through airplay, performances, or sync.
So, in plain terms: you keep all your sales and streams, the PRO simply makes sure both of us get credited for our part of the songwriting.
Absolutely. You can perform it at unlimited live shows and get unlimited radio play.
You can create unlimited music videos, Shorts, TikToks, Reels, and promo clips to promote the song itself. If a brand or company wants to use your song in a commercial sync placement (TV, film, ads, video games, etc.), you must obtain a seperate license that covers this type of sync.
All leases are non-exclusive, so other artists may also license the same beat. If you want to own the beat exclusively, please contact to discuss availability.
You can give credit as: "Produced by JLawrence" in releases, descriptions, metadata etc. Vocal shout-outs on the track are fine too.
No. All licenses are unlimited and lifetime. Once you buy it, you keep it forever.
